Welcome Brothers & Sisters

From Our Pastor, Todd Stout
“Men wanted for hazardous journey, small wages, bitter cold, long months of complete darkness, constant danger, safe return doubtful. Honor and recognition in case of success.”

That advertisement appeared in a London newspaper and thousands of men responded! It was signed by the noted Antarctic explorer, Sir Ernest Shackleton, and that was what made the difference.

Warren Wiersbe has said: “If Jesus Christ had advertised for workers, the announcement might have read something like this: ‘Men and women wanted for difficult task of helping to build My church. You will often be misunderstood, even by those working with you. You will face constant attack from an invisible enemy. You may not see the results of your labor, and your full reward will not come till after all your work is completed. It may cost you your home, your ambitions–even your life.’”

What does it look like to be “The Church?” Not a church but The Church that Jesus said He would build.  He began with the rock that we know as Peter.  At the time, He was calling Peter the Rock, Peter was but a pebble, that recognized that Jesus was more than a good teacher but proclaimed that Jesus was, “the Messiah the Son of the Living God.”

In August, we are going to begin a Study that is going to look at what it means to be “The Church.”  The word church is translated from the Greek word Ecclesia.  It is defined as the body gathered to worship the Lord God.

We will be spending time in the Book of 1 Timothy, which is a deep study into the Gospel ministry of the Church, so I encourage you to read through this powerful portion of God’s Word as we begin looking at what God has called us to be as His “Church.”
